She Sits


she sits on the blanket kicking her feet like a teenage girl
she sips her water now and eats her carrots
she can feel the moisture of the ground soaking through
she seeks the blueness of the sky
she wants her path to unfold
she hears herself giggle as the robin hops curiously past her feet
she looks skyward to make sense of the clouds
she wants to know who she is to be
she knows her heart well
she can’t move from the blanket
she waits as the wind begins to move
she breathes in all that is in her
she sits on the blanket now moist with dew
she sees her reflection and how her hands have aged
she finds herself hoping for a path she knows is inside
she searches within
she sits on the blanket enjoying the blessing that is
